Committees
GCRC Advisory Committee
The GCRC Advisory Committee (GAC) reviews, approves,
and oversees all research projects requesting UW-GCRC support.
The GAC members are appointed by the dean on a limited term basis.
This committee meets monthly.
The committee evaluates proposals based upon scientific merit and
need for center resources. It is responsible for the designation
of the category of inpatient days and outpatient visits for each
research project proposed to the center as category
A, B, or D.
Prior to the GAC Meeting, a GCRC Pre-Review
Committee assesses each protocol. Memos go to the investigator and
study coordinator, asking for clarification or information before
the full GAC meets. The purpose is to make submissions more efficient
and timely.
The Post-Review Committee meets after the formalGAC review
to assign a priority ranking based on the NIH, industry, or unfunded status. The group also finalizes the study's award for number
of inpatient days, outpatient visits, and ancillaries.
Interdisciplinary Quality Assurance Committee
This committee is appointed by the director and meets bimonthly, chained by Nizar Jarjour, MD.
Its purpose is to facilitate and ensure quality improvement and
quality of care to maintain and exceed the standards of the Joint
Commission on the Accreditation of Hospitals Organization (JCAHO).
Data and Safety Monitoring Committee
The Data and Safety Monitoring Committee (DSMC) meets bimonthly
to discussion any adverse event reports, and to vote on data and
safety reviews of UW-GCRC studies. The DSMC chair and one committee
member are meeting with study PIs and study coordinators of all
active protocols. Four to eight protocols are reviewed every month.
GCRC Long-Range Planning Committee
The GCRC Long-Range Planning Committee members are appointed
by the dean and meet quarterly to review the UW-GCRC overall activity,
review research portfolio, and provide counsel for potential new
research and programs which may benefit the UW-GCRC mission.
The member of this committee are influential and hold senior
positions on the UW campus.
