Biostatistics and Medical Informatics Department Overview
Environment - University of Wisconsin-Madison

UW-Madison logoThe University of Wisconsin-Madison is a large, highly-ranked public university with major colleges of Letters and Science, Agricultural and Life Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, Medicine, Nursing, Law, Education, Pharmacy, Business, and Engineering. There are over 40,000 students enrolled, taught by over 2000 faculty and 5500 academic staff members. The main campus itself encompasses 933 acres, and is situated adjacent to downtown Madison. Madison is known for its beautiful lakes. In fact, the downtown area is located on the isthmus between Lakes Mendota and Monona. These surroundings make for a beautiful place to live and work.

The Department of Biostatistics and Medical Informatics occupies space in a variety of campus buildings. However, most faculty and staff members are located in either the Clinical Sciences Center, located on the western end of campus as part of the University Hospital and Clinics, the Medical Sciences Center, located centrally on campus, or the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation building (WARF), located between the other two sites.
